To the Palomar Family,
Greetings, this is Blake Bedingfield, the new head swim team coach for your Palomar Piranhas. I am so excited to be your coach, and I cannot wait to meet all of our parents and swimmers. It may seem far away, but the warm days of early April have me already wishing to kick off the 2012 summer swim season. So, the countdown has begun, and we are just a short time away. I am very much looking forward to beginning our journey to reclaiming the Man O’ War Swim Conference title, and continuing the great tradition of Palomar Piranhas Swimming. Our team will showcase all of the elements that make summer swimming truly special. First, to have more fun and enjoy our season together more than everyone else will be the coaching staff’s primary goal. Other top priorities will include, promoting a safe environment, team sportsmanship, valuing the spirit of competition, and teaching new skills.
I encourage all of you to reserve the night of April 18th (6-8 PM) for our Open House to take the chance to meet myself and our team of young coaches. During this event, you will be given the chance to ask questions and take care of all registration related items for your swimmers. Most importantly, don’t miss out on your chance to be a part of an exciting summer.
And so, a new era begins for the Palomar Piranhas…
Swimcerely,
Blake Bedingfield Head Coach Palomar Piranhas Swim Team |

What is Summer Swim All About?
Our hope is that you and your child will have a fun and positive experience as part of our swim team. Please remember that everyone on our team contributes to the team spirit and fun! We hope the information provided on this website will help you better understand the sport of competitive swimming and how our team works. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact one of the board members.
Our team is a member of the Man-O-War Swim Conference and we compete in six dual meets that are held each week on Wednesday evening (Although this year, 2012, we have one on a different day due to the July 4th Holiday.
For home swim meets, swimmers are required to arrive at the pool at approximately 4:30 p.m. for warm-ups. The meet begins at 6:00 p.m. and ends no later than 9:30 p.m. Warm-up times for away meets will be announced each week before the meet.
The Conference Championship meet will take place Saturday, July 14th and Sunday, July 15th, 2012. All swimmers compete in the preliminary competition on Saturday and the top 18 fastest swimmers from the preliminary competition, in each event, in each age group, return to compete in the Championship finals on Sunday.
AGE GROUPING The eligibility of a participant to swim in a specific age group will be determined by his or her age on June 1 of the current year. If a senior in high school has turned 19 before June 1, he or she is eligible to swim the summer following their high school graduation. That is the only exception to the age rules.
Age groups are as follows: Girls and Boys 6 and under Girls and Boys 7 – 8 Girls and Boys 9 – 10 Girls and Boys 11 – 12 Girls and Boys 13 – 14 Girls and Boys 15 – 18 |
